Sammanfattning

This study is about men's violence against women during the 1980s. The purpose of the study is to examine how the organization Alla kvinnors hus has defined, problematized and understood violence based on their own newspaper: Anna: Ny kvinnotidning. The study is based on Ian Hacking's theories on "making up people" and Yvonne Hirdman's theories on the "gender system", which are then linked to how violence is portrayed and constructed in relation to gender norms, power and control. The operationalization is based on a qualitative discourse analysis that is thematically structured into three different themes in the analysis: The definition of the concept of violence, the different representations of violence, and violence in connection with power, control, and gender norms.
