Sammanfattning

The purpose of this thesis is to further develop the automation of a robotic cell prototype for a research group at the Department of Solar Cell Technology at Uppsala University, by developing and implementing mechanical solutions to reduce manual work and enable future integration into an established system for material synthesis. The theoretical foundation covers the product development process, robots in laboratory environments and peripheral equipment used in robot cells. The methodology included dialogue with the client, concept generation and selection, manufacturing, assembly, implementation and necessary calculations to support future work. The project resulted in a fully implemented mechanical solution for the vacuum chamber, controlled autonomously through the user-defined commands using a control system consisting of selected electrical components. The motor for the door rotated 414° which opened and closed the vacuum chamber 82.8°, this took 12 seconds per cycle or 6 seconds per movement. The oven door solution was largely assembled but could not be fully implemented due to time limitations, leaving it operable manually but not through the control system. The conclusion is that the vacuum chamber can be controlled autonomously, while additional work is required to fully implement the solutions for the oven in the prototype. The project provides a solid foundation for further development and future integration into the final system.
