Barn i sorg och professionellt stöd vid föräldraförlust : En kvalitativ studie

The aim of this study was to examine how different professional actors experience their work with support for children in grief when losing a parent and how they describe children's grief and need for support. The study was conducted using a qualitative method with semi-structured interviews in healthcare, schools and non-profit organizations. In the analysis, the study results were interpreted through KASAM as a theoretical framework. The results show that children in grief need secure relationships, honest and age-appropriate information and adults who listen and stay with difficult emotions. Children's grief is ”varied” and can have long-term effects. Professional support focuses on strengthening the child and the remaining parent's ability. Some offer shorter support interventions while others work more long-term through various support groups. The study shows that there may be a gap in support for children with so-called ordinary grief.
