Sammanfattning

As of 2024, the private debt market has grown to USD 1.7 trillion in assets under management, reflecting a major shift in the financial ecosystem. Not long ago, what was referred to as shadow banking has now established itself as a crucial intermediary between investors searching for a higher yield and borrowers lacking access to traditional bank financing. This thesis explores the past, present, and future of the private debt market by presenting a case study of P Capital Partner's decision to finance KatExpress 1, a high-speed catamaran. By conducting a thorough investigation and applying tailor-made terms, we demonstrate that a nonbankable case can be transformed into a successful investment. In doing so, we aim to bridge the gap between academic theory and practises employed by private debt funds.
