Building Information Modelling (BIM) in recent times has become an important tool in the building construction sector. BIM provides collaboration and information exchange for BIM-programs, however this is not flawfree, BIM interoperability is still a challenge especially during design phases in a project. This study has a purpose to identify the challenges in BIM-interoperability as well as finding strategies which led to better BIM-interoperability between different programs. A qualitative method is used for this study, with semi-structured interviews with professionals as architects, BIM-coordinators and project leaders. The data acquired from the interviews was analysed using a thematic analysis. The following three themes were the result: experience and opinions on transfers and software, barriers with software and lack of knowledge in professionals in the design phase, work methods and requirements.
