Sammanfattning

The objective for this thesis has been to develop an urban housing project in a somewhat conventional and realistic setting, aligning with current building regulations and standards. The site is located in Skanstull, Stockhom. Looking at contemporary new developed housing which, to a great extent, tends to produce the minimal apartment size allowed leading to an increased determinacy of the apartment rooms and how they can be utilized. The inbuilt static inhibits the possibility of furnishing apartments in different ways and also over time the possibility to alter size and configuration following the demand. A strategy to facilitate adaptability is to use room dimensions and connections that allow multifunctional usage. Within this topic I’ve tried to a greater extent view the whole apartment building as a set of general rooms. With the proposal I try to achieve something that is in between the generous generality and the compressed minimalism, or rather, that could be both. This balance between abundance and minimalism is as far as the internal programming goes the very core of this thesis project. As well as to explore the aesthetic possibilities that are created.
