How to Build in Reykjavík

Sammanfattning

Reykjavík is a city currently going through a period of great change, after decades of expansionist planning that has produced American style sprawling suburbs city authorities have decided to curb the sprawl and start the process of densification. All development will now focus on the area that is already built, focusing on infills and redeveloping industrial areas and leftover plots. I chose a plot leftover in the middle of the city. Through research focused on photography, spatial analysis and archival drawings I arrived at a design inspired by the cities past updated to work in a contemporary context.
