Gambling is a public health problem that costs the society lot of money and leads to negative consequences. This study aims to investigate social workers’ experiences with working with people who gamble. Eight socialworkers were interviewed and their answers were analyzed with thematic analysis. Results show that social workers primarily work with motivational interviews and cognitive behavioral therapy. The social workers experience the collaboration with the psychiatrical care as flawed and that there is a societal ignorance towards gambling. The collaboration between the non-institutional care and social services is portrayed as an opportunity in social work with people who gamble. The social workers wished for expanded resources that enables early discovery, treatment and support for people with people who gamble.
