Sammanfattning

The purpose of this study is to examine and investigate what the norm-setting process looks like in regards to regulations that give employers the opportunity to request and demand drug tests from their employees. To fulfill the purpose of the study, a qualitative research method with semi-structured interviews were conducted. The sample consisted of employers and union worker representatives. Furthermore, thematic content analysis and Foucault's theoretical framework were used in order to analyze the collected material. The results of the study show that the norm formation process is characterized by provisions within the Work Environment Act and the Co-determination Act. Furthermore, the results indicate that customer requirements, other types of tests, union views and the importance of a policy are important conditions in the process. The results of the study contribute with a deeper understanding of the labor market's norm-forming processes and an insight into the conditions that apply within it.
