Sammanfattning

This project investigates the feasibility of using 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi for Integrated Sensing and Communication (ISAC) with low-cost ESP32-C3 devices. A sensing system combining Channel State Information (CSI), Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI), and Fine Time Measurement (FTM) was implemented across fourESP32 nodes configured as an APSTA unit, an FTM initiator, and two responders. Ten experimental scenarios involving static and dynamic human presencewere recorded. Results show that CSI provides the clearest distinction betweenbaseline conditions, static presence, and movement. RSSI captures coarse channel variations but remains noisy, while FTM is stable in static environments yettends to overestimate distance in multipath-rich scenarios. Combined, the sensing methods reliably detect presence and motion while maintaining normal Wi-Ficommunication. The system meets the project requirements and demonstratesthat low-cost Wi-Fi hardware can support sensing and communication simultaneously. This work provides a foundation for future improvements in real-timedetection and more advanced ISAC system designs.
