Sammanfattning

The project started on the basis of the global goal for clean water and sanitation. Early in the project, it was identified that there is a municipal water and sewage system in Eskilstuna that supplies the urban areas, whilst the majority of the homes in the countryside are dependent on an individual water supply and sewerage system. During site visits the residents along road 230 mentioned that the municipality had promised an expansion of the water and sewerage system for several years, but that this was yet to happen - despite the fact that the water treatment plant Hyndevad is in the same area. Presuming that the municipality will eventually expand the water and sewerage system along road 230, smaller water treatment plants could supply clusters of homes with clean water until the expansion is completed. Plants may also be built along the road and then later connect to the major system in the future. This project aims to design and develop one of these plants, which will be able to supply about 350 people with water, and at the same time educate the residents on sustainable water management. The building will be a people's house where the water purification process is visible and creates atmospheric rooms for meetings, exhibitions and conferences.
