Hur Skolan Och Skolmiljön Påverkar Den Mentala Hälsan Hos Barn Och Unga Med Autism

Autism is increasingly diagnosed all over society, yet there is not much general knowledge about the complexity of the diagnosis. In a fast-moving society with more and more impressions and stimuli in everyday life, navigating through social norms can sometimes be complicated. This may result in further difficulties regarding creating social relations such as friendships for children and adolescents with autism. This report aims to investigate the current social situations in school environments for these individuals, how well they adjust and how well the school and it´s environment adjusts to them. The goal of this literature study is to identify the wellbeing of children and adolescents with autism using thematic analysis. And further explore what potential interventions is needed to support and protect their mental health and development. The results of this study show that the individuals in question experience high level of bullying and social exclusion, it’s also a common theme that they describe how the school staff and peers lacks knowledge and understanding about autism.
