Sammanfattning

Hydrogen production through electrolysis is considered crucial technology forsustainable energy solutions. This study focuses on identifying a mathematicaldescription for the electrolysis process for hydrogen production using an alkalicell and identifying the optimal operation conditions for key parameters, suchas electric current, voltage, and fluid flow. The findings are then compared tothe current literature of alkaline hydrogen production as well as comparing thistechnology and alternative energy storage methods, considering the perspectivesof economy, sustainability and implementation.Experimental data is collected through steady-state regimes, and the impact ofdense mesh structures on fluid dynamics is analyzed. By finding functionalcorrelations between key variables, this research aims to improve hydrogenproduction efficiency and provide insights into the challenges associated withmesh electrodes. The optimization identified an operating point that significantlyincreases system efficiency, confirming that even small changes in flow rateor electric current can lead to measurable performance gains. The resultsshow that nonlinear regression combined with numerical optimization can bean effenctive and practical tool for improving hydrogen production systems. In the broader context, the findings support the feasibility of implementingcost-effective, efficient electrolysis technologies in energy markets, such asArgentina, while also highlighting challenges related to data limitations and modelgeneralizability.
