Sammanfattning

The study presents an analysis of the multifunctional capacity of play biotopes where the child's and nature's perspectives create socially beneficial synergy effects. The study is an exploratory literature study and the analysis is carried out based on the questions "Can play biotopes contribute to promoting children's physiological, psychological and social health and well-being?" and "How can play biotopes simultaneously function as multifunctional spaces where play, biodiversity and ecosystem services can interact?" using scientific articles and other literary data collection. A lecotope is a nature-based play environment that effectively includes biodiversity and ecosystem services in society's urban environments. Urbanization is largely one of the causes of reduced biodiversity in urban areas, while children have shown negative health effects from limited access to nature, where biophobia has been shown to be an effect of reduced access to and stay in nature. By restoring existing and creating new green areas within urban environments, good conditions are created for increased biodiversity and better health in children. Cognitive, physical and mental skills in children have been shown to be related to nature exposure and where nature-based learning has been shown to result in more environmentally friendly attitudes. By being inspired by nature and its own solutions when designing an existing or new area, good conditions are created for ecosystem services to deliver their services for human welfare. Society has a strong need to include biodiversity within all parts of the city to create resilient and future-proof living environments.
