Sammanfattning
The studies on political parties in the political sphere have for a long time been at the center of understanding why political parties act the way they do and how this affects their chances in upcoming elections. Instead, this paper aims to examine how representatives from the Social Democrats, Swedish Democrats and Liberals relate to the parties common positions regarding the European Union in the election manifesto for the 2019 European Parliament elections. A comparative qualitative content analysis is used to analyze three different election manifestos and six different debate articles written by the representatives. By mapping out the content of the material and trying to read a connection, the study has found that representatives relate very well to the parties common position but there are some discrepancies in the Social Democrats and the Swedish Democrats. With the help of theories on party action, political profiling and European integration this will be explained and discussed.
