Sammanfattning
In this thesis we present the ejecta masses, nickel masses, ejecta velocities and kinetic energies for a sample of 586 supernovae type Ia, estimated using Bayesian inference and the Arnett model. Our applied method relies on the construction and analysis of light curve fits of a subsample of transients from the ZTF DR2 data release. Our results show that the observed ejecta masses follow a logarithmic normal distribution with a peak of 0.86 solar masses, and that a majority of ejecta masses are found below the Chandrasekhar limit. Taking uncertainties into account, 59% of the sample are consistent with both sub-Chandrasekhar $0.9 \text{~M}_{\odot} < \text{~M~} < 1.2 \text{~M}_{\odot}$ and near-Chandrasekhar ejecta masses $1.2 \text{~M}_{\odot} < \text{~M~} < 1.5 \text{~M}_{\odot}$. The ejecta velocities and nickel masses of our sample are also consistent with current near-Chandrasekhar and sub-Chandrasekhar progenitor scenarios. Our results are consistent with the previous conclusion that no single progenitor scenario can explain all observations.
