This study describes the software and technology in men's Swedish elite football, how it is utilised, and examines the perceptions of those experienced with football-related technology. Data was collected through semi-structured qualitative interviews with coaches and representatives from software manufacturing companies to understand the current technological landscape. The data was analysed through content analysis, identifying technologies such as video recorders, analysis software, and data and statistics providers. These systems are used for game preparation, player development, performance analysis, injury prevention, and more. The three core technologies used by these systems are artificial intelligence, player-tracking algorithms, and cloud computing. This study discusses the role of artificial intelligence and statistical models in football technology, highlighting how they can provide deeper insights into player performance and game strategy, and their potential to shape future advancements in the sport. The users of football-related technologies highlight the positive effects on efficiency and performance and the future potential of technology in Swedish elite football. They also point out limitations and challenges, including the high costs of investing in technology and hiring coaches with technological expertise.
