Sammanfattning

“The sandwiches are the towel to online bones” invites you to walk into three connected chapters around real incidents relating to topics such as body shaming, societal beauty standards and online grooming. The first one “The importance of the towel” being the story of what being body-shamed from a young age takes from you, the death of childhood wonder and the growth another anxiety driven body in fault of beauty standards being passed generationally. The second chapter “Teeth are the window to the bone” about the meaning of having a part of your physical appearance commented on from youth. how that affects what you enjoy around you. The last one “From tuna sandwiches to online cookies” tells how not having reassurance and compliments about one’s image growing up can make you search for it online. Highlighting micro-aggressions on the online space and retaking the early internet aesthetics as a way to tell this story of searching for that validation that wasn’t given in real life in the first place. I invite the reader to walk into these bodies, narrating and portraying the stories with the help of visuals and storytelling. Leaning into the feeling of being a child. My intention is to bring these feelings to life so others can live them as well, hoping to create empathy and kindness in an era where we sometimes forget it.
