Utvecklingen av solenergi i det skånska energisystemet: Ett sociotekniskt perspektiv

The aim of this study has been to explore which driving forces and hindrances shape the development of solar energy in the Swedish region of Scania, but also how the development of solar energy has changed the energy system in Scania. This has been undertaken through a thematic analysis grounded in a socio-technical perspective. The thematic analysis has been applied to documents that contained statements from different actors connected to the development of solar energy in Scania. The thematic analysis has been supported by statistical data in order to enable measuring of the solar energy development and changes in the energy system of Scania. The study has identified several driving forces and hindrances that have shaped the development of solar energy within Scania. Driving forces were identified within five themes, climate, increasing energy use, war/energy crisis, regulation and policy, as well as changing user preferences. Hindrances were identified within the theme of regulation and policy. These hindrances pertain to the competing interests of energy provision and food production on agricultural land, as well as the taxation of large-scale electricity production for own use. The combined effect of the driving forces and hindrances is that solar energy has been incorporated into the energy system of Scania, as a significant contributor to increasing the electricity production within the region. Therefore the study can conclude that the incorporation of solar energy has made the energy system of Scania more self-sufficient on electricity. However this has not been without challenges as shown by the identified hindrances.
