Sammanfattning

This master's thesis explores the potential of integrating spirituality as a fundamental dimension of modern pedagogy. Using an interdisciplinary approach, the study synthesizes neuropedagogical theory, anthropological field studies from Chillihuani in Peru, and the science of innate spirituality to formulate a new pedagogical framework: neurospiritual pedagogy. Drawing on Matti Bergström's theories on the brain's value capacity, Inge Bolin's observations of a "culture of respect," and Lisa Miller's research on innate spirituality, the thesis challenges the traditional secular boundaries of Western education. The core of the study defines neurospiritual pedagogy as a practice rooted in scientifically established facts that emphasizes wholeness, creativity, and the ability to evaluate. It highlights the importance of fostering a child's connection with nature, spiritual rituals, and altruistic relationships that extend beyond the family to all living beings. The findings suggest that by acknowledging the "heart knowing" and the neurobiological foundations of spiritual experience, schools can better support children's development of empathy and resilience. Furthermore, it highlights the necessity of this pedagogical shift in an increasingly digitalized world where technological systems challenge human ethical decision-making. The thesis concludes with a vision for a future educational system where spirituality is not an elective, but a cornerstone for fostering a new generation capable of addressing global challenges through a sense of interconnectedness and love for life itself.
