Sammanfattning

In 2022, the construction and real estate sector in Sweden accounted for approximately 22.1 percent of the country´s total emission of greenhouse gases. To promote sustainability in the construction sector, various environmental requirements have been introduced, such as limit values on climate emissions, as well as encouraging innovations and new sustainable building methods, as well as promoting passive house standards. The purpose of this study is to compare two different construction designs, BBR and passive boxes, and their impact on energy demand and climate changes. To investigate the purpose of this study, two boxes from ICE BOX Challenge were studied in two steps: IDA ICE was used to compare Energy demand for both boxes, and then the results from the energy simulations were used in One Click LCA in order to compare both boxes' climate impact. The results of both IDA ICE and One click LCA showed that the passive box had lower values for Energy demand and climate impact, when compared to the BBR box. The heating demand of the passive house was 108 kWh/m2 while for BBR box 231 kWh/m2. The total climate impact for passive box 14 240 kgCO2e, while for BBR box 20 270 kgCO2e. After comparing both boxes, the conclusion of this study shows that using the design and concept of passive house standards contribute to lower Energy demand and lower impact on the climate.
