Sammanfattning

This thesis explores how the construction sector and its logistics providers are addressing the transition to sustainable transport, with a focus on the Swedish context. The study investigates the drivers, barriers, and strategic considerations influencing this transition, aiming to understand how different stakeholders across the supply chain respond to growing demands for low-emission logistics. Empirical data was gathered through semi-structured interviews and surveys involving construction companies, logistics service providers, and suppliers operating in Sweden. The findings reveal a significant gap between the environmental expectations of construction clients and the operational realities faced by suppliers and carriers. Key barriers identified include limited charging or refueling infrastructure, high investment costs, regulatory uncertainty, and a lack of data standardization. Despite these challenges, the research highlights emerging opportunities in collaborative approaches, digitalization, alternative fuels, and multimodal transport solutions. A comprehensive market analysis, competitor benchmarking, and policy review provide additional context to understand sector-specific dynamics and the pace of sustainable logistics adoption. The study offers actionable insights for stakeholders aiming to accelerate the decarbonization of transport within construction-related supply chains. It also contributes to the broader academic discourse on sustainable logistics transitions, particularly in emission-intensive sectors.
