Epiroc is a manufacturing company with a business model focused on producing customsolutions for the mining and construction industries. Companies involved in the manufactureof custom solutions must constantly manage product revisions due to design improvements,cost reductions, or adjustments based on suppliers’ product ranges. Epiroc identified thisprocess as a problem, as the company currently operates based on a test that has become astandard practice, shifting production schedules, and a lack of time for actual follow-up. Thisstudy aimed to examine the current process, quantify its consequences, and identify whereEpiroc should implement changes. To analyze the current process and its inefficiency,established methodologies such as Engineering Change Management were used, which addresshow to implement product changes and their overall strategies. In summary, there areshortcomings in the current process, including ineffective communication, a lack of processownership and follow-up, and inconsistent phase-out date-setting practices. Fourrecommendations for improvement were made: improved data collection, systematicmonitoring of outcomes, more efficient communication, and adaptive effectivity date.
