Artificial Intelligence (AI) has become a well-known concept in the public and has a large and rapid impact on society, including in the workplace and education. The origin of the concept can be traced back to the 20th century, but the greatest progress was made in the 1950s. What is now called the Turing test was conceptualized by mathematician Alan Turing where he wanted to test the ability of machines to think on a human level. Since its origin, AI has developed at a rapid pace. In the modern labor market, integration of AI is common. Especially in the accounting profession, AI integration has become increasingly common with a large impact. This study aims to provide a better understanding of how accounting consultants use artificial intelligence (AI) in accounting processes, why AI is used and what changes AI has brought to their daily work routine. The study is based on a qualitative method with semi-structured interviews that consisted of six respondents. The respondents work as accounting consultants and contribute relevant and practical insights into AI applications to work routines. By reading previous research, they showed that AI leads to increased efficiency and accuracy in work. Many monotonous and manual tasks are automated. Previous research also showed that due to AI integration, the role has had a change in routines. What the previous research highlighted was comprehensive and generalized. Our study contributes with a more detailed explanation of how accounting consultants apply AI, why AI is applied and what changes it has brought about. The results of our study confirmed several claims from previous research and contributed to new information when it comes to clear and practical examples.
