Sammanfattning

The purpose of the study was to examine how relevant actors perceive the distribution of responsibilities in cases where children with neurodevelopmental disorders (NDD) are involved in legal proceedings, and how collaboration affects children’s opportunities to have their rights safeguarded. The study was conducted using a qualitative approach based on interviews with informants from different organisations. The analysis was informed by Bronfenbrenner’s ecological systems theory as well as children’s rights and disability rights perspectives. The findings show that children exposed to violence who have NDD are overrepresented in such cases. A lack of knowledge among relevant actors may lead to insufficient support and limit children’s opportunities to be heard. Furthermore, several actors identified shortcomings in collaboration and expressed a need for more structured cooperation. Overall, the results highlight the need to improve collaboration, increase knowledge of NDD, and enhance insight into roles and responsibilities to ensure children’s rights.
