Sammanfattning

Boulangerie Ruz is a spatial design proposal for a bakery that explores how sound, frequency and atmosphere can be translated into interior architecture and furniture design. The project begins with a morning ritual in which Fairuz’s music is played during breakfast, conversation and shared moments. This ritual connects sound, memory, food and social presence, and becomes the foundation for the atmosphere of the space. The project asks how immaterial phenomena can take physical form, and how traditional material expressions can be reinterpreted through more sustainable strategies. The design process moves from sound to pattern, from pattern to material, and from material to room. Through cymatic experiments, selected tones from Fairuz’s music are transformed into visual patterns. These patterns are then developed digitally and tested physically as inlays in the floor. The floor becomes the main carrier of the concept. It allows the music to leave traces in the room and lets visitors move across, around and close to the sound. The reflective inlays change with light, movement and viewing angle, which gives the space a quiet sense of transformation. The ceiling, daylight and acoustic elements continue this relationship between sound, light and material. The project also examines alternatives to traditional mother-of-pearl. Leftover material from guitar inlays, discarded blue mussel shells, artificial nacre and biobased shimmering surface materials are explored as possible strategies. These materials connect aesthetic qualities with questions of origin, waste and resource use. Boulangerie Ruz shows how a bakery can be more than a place of consumption. It can become a space for memory, presence and community, where everyday rituals are given physical and sensory form.
