Sammanfattning

Feedback is an important part of dance education and a tool often used by teachers to help students in their progress. Additionally, feedback is an essential part of formative assessment, which has proven to be beneficial for students’ learning and performance. The aim of this study is therefore to investigate the types of feedback that occur in dance education in upper secondary school, and whether the feedback is formative. Furthermore, students’ lived experiences of the feedback they receive are explored. The methods used in this case study were observations and qualitative interviews with students. The findings show that verbal feedback is the most common type of feedback used and that several formative feedback practices are present in dance education. The results also indicate that students generally appreciate receiving feedback. Furthermore, the findings suggest that the learning environment plays an important role in ensuring that the feedback is effective, as does the clarification of learning goals.
