Sammanfattning

The purpose of this study is to examine the professionals' scope of action to consider the role of the children living at home in foster care and their opportunities for influence in the process. A quantitative research design was employed, and data was collected through digital surveys distributed to foster care professionals. The data was analyzed using the statistical software SPSS, with findings presented in frequency and correlation tables. The results indicate that most professionals believe there are clear guidelines for addressing the needs of biological children before a new placement occurs. However, time constraints are frequently cited as a barrier to implementing these guidelines effectively. During the placement, such guidelines are perceived as less defined, and time remains a limiting factor. A significant finding was that 87,6% of participants considered the match between the foster child and the biological children to be crucial for achieving a stable and functional family environment. Overall, the study suggests that structural conditions—such as sufficient time and appropriate training—are essential to the quality of foster placements and the extent to which the perspectives of biological children are included in the process. A lack of attention to these children may contribute to placement breakdowns, underscoring the importance of a holistic approach within foster care services.
