Sammanfattning

Background The nurse plays a central role in the rehabilitative and risk-preventive process following a stroke. Mobilization constitutes a crucial component of the rehabilitation process. However, there is limited evidence regarding the effects of early mobilization on rehabilitation outcomes. Aim The aim of this literature review is to investigate the effect of early mobilization as a nursing intervention in rehabilitation after stroke. Method A structured literature review with elements of a systematic approach. Results Early mobilization as a nursing intervention appears to contribute to improvements in physical functions such as activities of daily living, motor function, balance, and gait, which in turn promote patient independence. Furthermore, the findings suggest that early mobilization may reduce the risk of immobilization-related complications, shorten the length of hospital stay, increase the likelihood of discharge to home, improve survival rates, and enhance neurological function. Conclusions Early mobilization can be interpreted as a key nursing intervention after stroke, with a predominantly positive impact on rehabilitation outcomes.
