Sammanfattning

The purpose of the study was to investigate whether two different materials, Trugs and the app Spel-Ett Läsflyt, could improve decoding skills among primary school students. The sample consisted of second-grade students who had shown difficulties with decoding. Additionally, the aim was to see if these two games could influence the students' motivation for reading practice. The study used a mixed-method approach, incorporating an intervention study with a single-subject design, as well as interviews. The interviews were conducted to explore the students' motivation for reading practice using Trugs and the app Spel-Ett Läsflyt. A total of four students from two different schools participated in the study, which involved an intervention with each material, along with tests before, during, and after the interventions. The students were interviewed before the study began and after each intervention. The results showed that three out of four students improved their decoding skills with the help of the Trugs game. All four students improved their decoding skills after the intervention with the app Spel-Ett Läsflyt. The students found both interventions beneficial and considered both materials motivating for reading practice.
