Sammanfattning

A growing societal trend is the expansion of GenAI, which has changed the rules of business operations. Growth companies are categorized by contingent uncertainty for survival, where expansion entails changes in control, roles and structures. External venture capital demands high returns and strategic decision-making. For venture boards the technology creates new opportunities for enhanced competitiveness, while simultaneously raising questions regarding reliability, control and accountability. The purpose of this study is to identify factors influencing the implementation of GenAI in venture boards in order to develop a model applicable in practice. A qualitative research method has been applied, focusing on experiences and subjective assessments. The empirical evidence contains 14 interviews with chairman of venture boards that have external venture capital, analyzed through a thematic approach. The conclusion demonstrates that organizational structures and tensions play a significant role in the implementation of GenAI. The study shows that not all venture boards share the same conditions and capabilities, resulting in GenAI implementation occurring in different ways. Four levels of implementation were identified: passive phase, exploratory phase, experimental phase and integrated phase. These levels describe a gradual maturity process in which boards progressively develop understanding, experience, and trust in GenAI as a strategic tool.
