Sammanfattning

Another Kollektivhus is a housing project in Stadshagen, Stockholm, that explores how collective housing can support social presence without forcing participation. The project responds to involuntary loneliness by investigating how architecture can create conditions for everyday contact, privacy and voluntary community. Rather than treating collective housing as a model based primarily on organised activities or strong communal identity, the project reinterprets the Swedish kollektivhus tradition through low-intensity social interaction. The focus is on small everyday situations: seeing, passing, sharing movement, cooking, pausing, or simply sensing that other people are nearby. The building is developed as a point-block with 30 rental apartments, shared commons, a café/bakery, workshop spaces, roof terrace and a central staircase. Its spatial organisation is based on a social gradient from public to private: from the city and café, through shared commons and staircase, to the individual apartment. Through strategies of privacy, visibility, movement and social gradient, the project tests how shared spaces can become part of everyday life without compromising the autonomy of the private home. It is not a final answer to loneliness, but a design study of housing as a framework for presence, choice and belonging.
