Sammanfattning
This project was carried out in collaboration with ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems and focused on the redesign of the vertical track set used in industrial overhead sectional doors. The main goal was to reduce the amount of material used in the track set while maintaining current strength, robustness, and overall performance. Achieving this involved developing a reliable calculation model to simulate the loads that the track set must withstand, generating new designs that can withstand the same loads, and evaluating these through detailed analysis. The development process followed the Ulrich & Eppinger development methodology, with certain adaptations to better fit this specific project. Finite element analysis was used in combination with the calculation model to evaluate the concepts generated with respect to the material use, while other methods were used to evaluate the concepts based on the manufacturing and assembly steps. The results showed three final concepts that all significantly reduce the material use while maintaining strength. Since they all differ fundamentally from each other, all concepts were presented as the final result of this project for ASSA ABLOY for further investigation. Recommendations on future work for the final concepts were provided and should act as a foundation for the continued development of the track set.
