IT infrastructure monitoring with Zabbix

This report briefly introduces IT infrastructure monitoring and evaluates Zabbix as a monitoring tool. A literature study has helped create base goals of monitoring and alert design, such as avoiding alert storms. Using lab environments, Zabbix has been configured, and templates have been designed to be used in live environments. While sporting great customizability and being a solid core to a monitoring solution, it is doubtful that any such tool alone is sufficient to handle all the needs of an optimal environment. Integration with automated helpdesk tickets is suggested as a solution, and further studies with the goal of establishing a suggested base design of monitoring are recommended.
