När idén blir verklighet : Framgångsfaktorer för etablering av idrottsföreningars anläggningsprojekt

This study examines how the organizational capacity of sports clubs affects their ability to initiate and implement major construction- or development projects. Previous research have mainly focused on three aspects under organizational capacity; human resources, financial capacity and structural capacity. The analysis is therefore structured around these three aspects, which function as an analytical framework for examining the phenomenon. Using qualitative methods, we conducted interviews with eight sports clubs in Västerbotten, Sweden, that are currently undertaking or have previously undertaken major facility construction or redevelopment projects. The findings indicate that planning, engagement, financial management, relational networks, project management experience and stakeholder communication are key factors in the successful implementation of major facility projects. The study also shows that, regardless of the club size, it is possible to carry out a large scale project that not only affects the organization itself but also has a broader societal impact. Based on these findings, sports clubs planning to undertake facility projects should consider these aspects to facilitate effective project initiation and implementation.
