Sammanfattning

Palm recognition is a biometric authentication method that uses the unique patterns of the palm for identification. The system requires users to position their hands accurately for biometric data to be captured. This thesis aimed to design an interface that supports accurate hand placement. The design process was conducted in three iterations, each including needs assessment, idea generation, prototype development, testing, and evaluation. Two versions of the prototype—one with a screen and one without—were developed in parallel. These progressed step-by-step from low- to high-fidelity prototypes using tools such as Visual Studio Code, OpenCV, and MediaPipe. Results showed consistent improvement throughout the iterations. The final prototypes achieved average user understanding scores of 4.75 and 4.86 out of 5, and System Usability Scores of 83.44 and 87.14 out of 100, respectively. The results indicate that the prototypes offer high usability, provide a positive user experience, and successfully fulfill the defined design objectives.
