Sammanfattning

Abstract Time planning is an important part of construction production, as it affects how activities, resources and work tasks are coordinated during a project. In the construction industry, Gantt planning is commonly used to provide an overview of activities and time frames. However, this method has limitations in showing how work moves between different locations, which can make it more difficult to identify interruptions in the production flow. The aim of this thesis is to examine how Gantt planning and location-based planning can be applied in construction projects, and how the methods affect the understanding of production flow and the choice of planning method. The study is based on the reference project Badskon 2 in Malmö, where an existing Gantt schedule was analysed and restructured into a location-based schedule in Tactplan. This study was conducted using Design Research Methodology, DRM, and is based on a literature study, semi-structured interview and practical processing of the project schedule. The original schedule was first analysed in Powerproject and then transferred to Tactplan. A location-based schedule was then developed by connecting activities to locations and visualising them using flowline. The results show that Gantt planning provides a clear overview of project activities and time frames, but has limited ability to show the connection between time, location and workflow. Location-based planning made it easier to follow activities between zones and floors and to identify overlaps and dependencies. The methods can therefore complement each other depending on the project's conditions.
