Sammanfattning

The left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) plays an important role in assessment of left ventricular systolic function and in echocardiography the most used method is Simpson's Biplane method (SBM). As the number of cardiac patients increases each year, new tools are required to maintain the workflow and not to overwhelm clinical practitioners with increased data analysis. Artificial intelligence (AI) is more often used within the clinical environment with each passing year and as such research was done to develop AI-algorithms that can help echocardiography practitioners in their endeavour. This study used AutoEF function and manual measurements to conclude if both methods were similar or not in measuring LVEF, end-diastolic (EDV) and end-systolic volumes (ESV). This study was conducted in a clinical environment with a sample size of 20 healthy individuals which is equally distributed between man and a woman. The study showed agreement between the two methods used for LVEF when comparing the AutoEF function with manual measurements. However, when comparing left ventricular volumes, the data showed disagreement.
