The interaction between human and Artificial Intelligence (AI) is becoming increasingly more important in today’s warehouse and logistics operations. While AI offers new opportunities for efficiency, challenges arise related to technical integrations and a change in competency requirements. The purpose of this study is to examine the obstacles that exist in the collaboration between humans and AI when optimizing and streamlining warehouse processes. To answer the research question, the study combines a literature review with semi structured interviews with professionals working with warehouses and logistics. The results show that poor data infrastructure, the need for training, and a resistance to change are key challenges. AI is most effective as support for humans, and success depends on clearly defined roles and mutual trust. The study highlights the importance of developing both technical and human factors in parallel to achieve sustainable AI use in warehousing.
