Sammanfattning

Background: Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a common neurodevelopmental disorder that affects the attention, behavior and emotional regulation of children and adolescents. Support interventions can assist parents in promoting health and everyday functioning among children and adolescents with ADHD, while considering the family’s life circumstances. Aim: The aim was to describe supportive interventions aimed at parents that promote health and everyday functioning in children and adolescents with ADHD. Method: The study was conducted as a systematic literature review. Data were collected through systematic searches in CINAHL, PsycInfo, and PubMed, and analyzed using coding and categorization. Results: The results comprised 20 scientific articles that were categorized into the following categories: Support interventions focused on guidance, Support interventions focused on emotional support, and Support interventions focused on lifestyle habits. Conclusion: The findings underscore the importance of family-centered and supportive interventions aimed at parents within child and adolescent psychiatric care, where specialist nurses can contribute to improved health and everyday functioning among children and adolescents with ADHD. Further research focusing on the specific support interventions provided by specialist nurses to parents may contribute to more equitable healthcare and improved health outcomes for children and adolescents with ADHD and their families.
