Sammanfattning

Managing user state in web applications can be complex. Challenges include keeping values in sync and avoiding complexity when scaling. To mitigate these problems architectural design patterns are used. To avoid unnecessary rewrites, it is important to select the right architecture from the beginning. One important consideration is response time. Slow response time increases stress and frustration while decreasing productivity. The goal of this thesis is to provide insights into the implications that the Flux and the MVVM design pattern have on the response times of a Blazor WebAssembly application by conducting two experiments. This thesis concludes that MVVM demonstrates faster response times than Flux. The difference is statistically significant. The differences are t00 small to be noticed by human perception. Using previous work we derive that Flux in terms of response time might be placed between MVVM and MVC. This could serve as a hypothesis for a future thesis.
