Sammanfattning

The study aims to investigate the impact of AI on the accounting profession and its tasks. The study will examine AI-based business systems and how they improve accounting tasks. The research question in the study is: How is the accounting profession affected by the AI ​​tool and which aspects and tasks are expected to be more efficient. A qualitative method will be used in the study by conducting semi-structured interviews with a total of seven accounting economists and one financial manager. D&M IS Success Model which deals with successful factors of quality by connecting that theory with the method and analyzing the answers from interviews with the respondents. By investigating the respondents’ experiences and connecting them to information, service and system quality. With the help of other scientific articles that are relevant and appropriate to the subject of the study, then the empirical and the theoretical framework will be analyzed. The collected data will be used to examinate the AI functions that improve the accounting role and show how accountants experience the implementation process and what support they received during this process as well as what risks, challenges and competencies have been generated because of AI implementation. The results show that AI-based business systems improve accounting and finance tasks. The profession will then focus more on automation and digitalization. Competent accountants' tasks will focus on analysis, advice and decision-making, which maybe results in replacing a few numbers of accountants or reducing their jobs to part-time positions.
