Är AI-kompetens makt? : En kvalitativ studie om hur AI-kompetens påverkar maktförhållanden i organisationer

Technological advances such as artificial intelligence (AI) affect a wide range of actors in society, including organizations and businesses. This study examines how AI competence affects the power relationship between leaders and employees and its impact on traditional power structures within organizations. Previous research shows that there is a lack of understanding of how AI competence affects social relations, such as power relations, from a sociological perspective. Using Foucault's theory of power and knowledge and Bourdieu's theory of capital, qualitative interviews with four leaders and four employees, from four different companies, are analyzed. The results show that AI competence increases cultural capital and changes hierarchies, where individuals with AI competence gain increased influence. Despite this change in the power relationship between leaders and employees, the interview results show that awareness of the change is limited. AI competence thus changes the power relationship between leaders and employees however does not affect the traditional power structure between them.
