Sammanfattning
During the COVID- 19 pandemic, many working processes became digitalized, including onboarding. Introductions that were previously conducted mainly in the physical workplace are now increasingly carried out in digital or hybrid contexts. The aim of this study is to examine employees' experiences of the organizational socialization and organizational belonging at SVT. Particular focus is placed on comparing the experiences of individuals who have undergone onboarding in digital, hybrid and on-site contexts. The research questions are as follows: What significance do digital, hybrid and on-site contexts have for the organizational socialization process of newly hired employees? And: How do employees' experiences of organizational belonging differ between digital, hybrid and on-site onboarding processes? Previous research shows that physical meetings are often perceived as more beneficial than digital ones when it comes to networking and integration, while the distribution of responsibility for the socialization of new employees is often seen as unclear. However, research in a Swedish context is limited, which motivates the implementation of this study. The study is based on qualitative interviews with employees at SVT and shows that organizational belonging is primarily influenced by access to social support, communication and opportunities for networking rather than by the form of onboarding itself. The findings indicate that organizational belonging is not a direct influence of onboarding, but rather of the organization´s ability to facilitate social interaction and relationship-building among new employees. Furthermore, the study indicates that digital onboarding requires more deliberate organizational efforts as social processes that occur naturally in face-to- face settings maybe less likely to emerge.
