Sammanfattning
Level: Bachelor Thesis in Business Administration Title: How Does Frequent Communication Affect Trust in Real Estate Agents? Authors: Hugo Åkerström & Viktor Fehn Supervisor: Lars-Johan Åge Examiner: Tommy Gerdemark Date: 2026 – Spring Semester Purpose: The purpose of the study is to contribute to a greater understanding of how trust develops in the relationship between real estate agents and sellers during the mediation process. By examining the importance of frequent communication, the study aims to deepen knowledge about trust in a context characterized by information asymmetry, dependence and high customer involvement. The study also aims to shed light on how individual factors such as age, education level and income relate to this process. Method: The study was conducted as a quantitative survey study using convenience and snowball sampling, where the data was analyzed through correlation and regression analysis. Results and Conclusion: The results show that frequent communication has a positive and statistically significant effect on the seller’s perceived trust in the real estate agent. However, when variables capturing the clarity and relevance of the communication are included, the importance of communication frequency decreases, indicating that the content of the communication is a stronger driver of trust. The conclusion is therefore that frequent contact primarily functions as a means of information exchange, while the quality of the communication determines its effect on trust. Suggestions for Further Research: Future research could beneficially apply longitudinal studies in which respondents are followed over time, reducing the risk of altered recollections. Another avenue for future research is to further examine the content of communication and its significance for trust in real estate brokerage-related contexts. Keywords: Trust, Frequent Communication, Communication, Real Estate Agents, Home Sellers, Information Asymmetry and Professional Services
