Background: The implementation of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GAI) in UI/UX design processes is increasing, yet research concerning how these tools impact usability and user trust remains limited. Method: This thesis employs a comparative qualitative method to compare an AI-generated mobile application interface with one designed by a human. Data are collected through “think-aloud" observations and semi-structured interviews with five participants The analysis is thematic, framed by principles of interaction design, usability, and trust. Results: The findings demonstrate that while GAI tools are efficient at producing visually appealing interfaces, they often struggle with complex information architecture and intuitive navigation. Users expressed higher trust in human-designed interfaces due to better system feedback and logical navigation, while AI-generated interfaces were often perceived as "templated" and lacking contextual depth. The study concludes that human designers remain essential as strategists and quality controllers to ensure user-centric design.
