This bachelor's thesis explores the relationship between employees' perceptions of artificial intelligence (AI) in the workplace and their motivation to develop skills. It further investigates whether this relationship is influenced by factors such as age and industry. The topic is highly relevant, as AI is increasingly integrated into Swedish working life, while its consequences for employees' motivation to engage in skills development are still partly unknown. The study adopts a deductive approach and is based on a quantitative survey comprising 75 respondents. The empirical data are analyzed using correlation analyses to examine the relationship between employees' perceptions of AI in the workplace and their motivation or skill development, as well as whether this relationship varies across age groups and industries. The results indicate a statistically significant relationship between perceptions of AI in the workplace and motivation for skill development. Furthermore, the results indicate that this relationship does not differ significantly between age groups or industries. The study concludes that the use of AI in working life appears to be generally associated with employees' motivation.
