This study examines how cultural and creative industries (CCI) in a defined geographical area can be promoted using digital ecosystems. Through interviews with local and active stakeholders in the local CCI scene, observations, and logbook entries, the problems facing the local CCI are identified. Utilizing an already established root-cause analysis for why co-creation amongst CCI end up fruitless, these problems are analyzed and presented as solvable with the characteristics of digital ecosystems. The problems identified include inter alia: lack of centralized platforms, absence of communication amongst stakeholders, ineffective integration of resources, and unnecessary hardships for youth trying to establish themselves in the local CCI scene. The framework of co-creation, symbiosis and synergy in digital ecosystems is thought to be able to solve these issues if designed with, by and for CCI in the area. Possibilities in this scenario are thought to strengthen the network, resilience and co-creation value amongst the CCI involved. Challenges in the scenario consist of financial and administrative responsibilities. The conclusion is to uplift co-creation processes in CCI contexts to further strengthen and develop local art and culture in the age of modern technology.
