'S' som i Sexualitet, Samtycke och Samhällskunskap : En litteraturstudie om undervisningen i kunskapsområdet Sexualitet, samtycke och relationer i samhällskunskapsämnet.

Sammanfattning

In 2022 the National Agency for Education in Sweden revised the section on Sex and re-lationship education, as well as adding consent. The area of study was now to be integrated into the school subjects, as well as more evenly distributed among all subjects. The purpose of this was to give students a broader context of what sex and relationships can be, as well as prevent sexual assault, homophobia among young people, prevent the spread of STDs and give students knowledge and values that can create safer and more respectful relation-ships (Skolverket, 2026a). In this study, Sexuality, Consent, and Relationships have been abbreviated to SSR. This literary study has examined how SSR can be included in social studies, as well as what norms and didactic challenges that teachers face when teaching about it. The results of this study show that teachers’ sex, age, sexuality and interests affect what they teach and how their teaching is structured. Male teachers were found to encoun-ter more obstacles in teaching about SSR than their female counterparts. Female teachers were also found to teach about SSR-related topics to a greater extent. One of the discover-ies that this study has made is that SSR is perceived to be a sensitive topic for both students and teachers. It was also discovered that the teaching of norms could sometimes reinforce rather than encourage students to problematize them. Finally, the study discovered that students with different cultural backgrounds sometimes felt disconnected from the subject all together. The complexity of the word consent is shown in students’ view of the word, where norms connected to gender and sexuality present itself. This ultimately shows the importance of teaching students about consent and not only presenting them with a definition of the word.
