Sammanfattning

The Science Center is a bachelor's project in architecture that aims to make Nynäshamn more attractive by promoting education and knowledge. A study from the Technopolis Group points to the need to strengthen the municipality's level of competence and improve labor market conditions. With a low proportion of residents with post-secondary education, the municipality faces challenges in recruiting qualified staff. The project is an interactive museum that complements the school's theoretical teaching in science and technology. The building is versatile and can be used for congresses in education, research and business. The design includes dynamic sight lines and movement flows, with a central entrance and courtyards for exhibition and event spaces. The building is adapted to existing trees and a historic station house, resulting in an angular shape with several volumes and different heights. The facade is made of cast-in-place concrete with horizontal joints that reinforce the building's elongated and low shape. The Science Center functions as a central meeting place for various actors in education, business and leisure. The building includes study spaces, exam halls, a flexible Research Hub for exhibitions and events, as well as a permanent exhibition. Outside there is a park with a garden and outdoor seating connected to a restaurant. The sustainability aspect is important and the project focuses on efficient material use to minimize carbon dioxide emissions. In summary, the Science Center is an architectural project that aims to offer a unique platform for education and collaboration in Nynäshamn, thereby contributing to the municipality's long-term development and growth.
